Green Mountain Power’s commitment to providing renewable
energy has reached a new high. Green
Mountain Power is in the process of building one of Northern New England’s
largest solar arrays in Berlin, Vermont.
We have chosen Alteris Renewables (formerly SolarWorks and SolarWrights)
of Montpelier, Vermont to build the plant, creating local jobs and supporting
our green economy.
The Berlin project will be Green Mountain
Power’s third solar installation. The Company recently installed a
58-kilowatt solar power system at GMP’s Westminster,
Vermont, service center, which
supplies 80 percent of that facility’s electricity needs. It also has four-kilowatt
solar panels at its Colchester headquarters, which provide enough electricity
to power its two plug-in hybrid vehicles.
"In Vermont, we are always happy to see the sun shine," said Mary Powell, President and CEO of Green Mountain Power. "This gives us one more reason to rejoice on a sunny day."
